TYLER PERRY SAYS SPIKE LEE'S CRITICISM OF HIM 'STUNG': According to The Jasmine Brand, in a new interview, Tyler Perry said that Spike Lee's criticism of him “stung.” A few years back, Lee referred to some of Tyler Perry's characters as “coonery and buffoonery.” He said, “If any criticisms stung, it would have been his, because I had so much respect and admiration for him. People’s opinions are their opinions, but that doesn’t negate the fact of the work that he’s done. And he’s due the honor of having a stage named after him and more than that.
JADA PINKETT SMITH TURNED DOW A ROLE IN 'DEAD PRESIDENTS' BECAUSE OF TUPAC: In an interview with Hip Hollywood, Larenz Tate revealed that Jada Pinkett-Smith was supposed to be in the film Dead Presidents but she didn't do it because Tupac had beef with the Hughes Brothers. Larenz said, “We’re on set in New Orleans talking about that experience. I said, ‘I talked to the Hughes brothers and you were supposed to be in the movie.’ And she says ‘I was.’ She was like, ‘I couldn’t do it because, at the time, I was really close with Tupac and Tupac had this beef with the Hughes brothers.'” He continued, “She had a good relationship with Tupac and she didn’t want to get in the middle of it. She thought if she had done that movie, it would’ve been a little weird.”
