David Bowie’s ashes have reportedly been scattered at the annual Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert over Labor Day weekend.
The 69-year-old rock icon passed away in January after secretly battling cancer.
Burning Man is an annual festival that takes place at Black Rock City, a temporary community erected in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. It has been described as an experiment in community and art.
Bowie’s godchild is said to have brought a portion of his ashes to the spiritual event where they were spread. Reports added that the star was honored at a ceremony of about 70 people located at the Temple – a structure for attendees to pay tribute to their departed loved ones and is burned to the ground after the week-long gathering.
It is said that Bowie and his godchild had long talks about Burning Man and what it stands for, and Bowie loved the message behind it.
